The Radiation Therapist performs all aspects of radiation therapy treatment as well as patient assessment and management of side effects, quality control, accurate treatment chart documentation, billing, and patient scheduling. The Radiation Therapist must understand computer plans, contours, and dose calculations and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment. We utilize 3D, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS and HDR treatments.

We seek a dynamic Chief Dosimetrist to oversee and drive the growth of our dosimetry team operations systemwide. This leadership position, based in Huntsville, Alabama, offers the chance to contribute significantly to the evolution of our department into a world-class center of excellence.
As the Chief Dosimetrist, you will play a central role in the efficient and effective execution of patient-specific medical dosimetry tasks, ensuring comprehensive dosimetry coverage across our expanding network. Managing a team of six dosimetrists across the main campus and four network community sites, you will provide leadership, guidance, and credentialing for existing and new procedures.
In the rapidly evolving landscape of dosimetry, including artificial intelligence and remote dosimetry, you will lead the charge in integrating innovative technologies into our clinical workflow. Your visionary approach will guide the department toward the future, ensuring we remain at the forefront of advancements in the field.
This crucial leadership position involves direct collaboration with the Leadership Team, including the Director of Medical Physics and Dosimetry, the Chief Radiation Therapist, and our Physicians. You will contribute to developing and implementing ongoing process improvement initiatives throughout the system, playing a crucial role in shaping our department’s future.
In addition to overseeing the dosimetry team, you will participate in the department’s quality improvement committee, further emphasizing your commitment to excellence and efficiency. This position allows for remote work with some travel required.
Ideal candidates for this role will have at least five years of experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist and three years of experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity. Candidates should possess a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a problem-solving mentality. We seek individuals dedicated to efficiency, safety, and collaborative teamwork. A comprehensive understanding of fundamental patient setup and simulation concepts, contouring, image fusions, treatment planning, and data transfer between the treatment planning system and the OIS (Oncology Information System) is essential.
